Prerequisites: Previous foundation piecing experience is helpful but not necessary

Make this elegant holiday wall hanging while you learn to draw, color and sew a Point-to-Point spiral. While you're at it, learn some new paper-piecing techniques that will make it easier than you ever thought possible! Students will be able to finish the central spiral in class, then add the borders at home.

Class kit includes preprinted foundations, pattern and instructions. Optional fabric kit available (fabrics as shown) for $30.00. Pre-ordering the fabric kit is recommended.

Fabrics for class: 5-1/4" wide stripe design, 4 strips 20" long; 4 fussy-cut motifs for corners 5-1/4" square; Red solid or texture, 3/4 yd; Green leaves, 1/4 yard; Cream, 3/8 yard. (See mat’ls list at www.ranaemerrillquilts.com/teaching/138 for details.)

Tools: Basic sewing supplies; scissors for paper; rotary cutter, ruler and mat; Add-a-Quarter tool*; iron or seam roller*; masking or painter’s tape; permanent double-sided tape; Scotch tape; pencil; fine-point permanent black pen; white paper; 2 highlighter pens in different colors; permanent markers in colors of fabrics (optional).

Sewing machine set-up: Straight stitch; 75/11 or 80/12 needle; open-toe or clear center-groove foot; neutral or matching thread for sewing.
