Grandma Hussey's Last Quilt

This was the quilt that started me quilting. In 1975 or 1976, my grandmother wrote to tell me she was making a quilt for me. She died in 1976 before she could finish it. My mother brought it home from the funeral, and it sat in my closet for years. In 1989, during my first year of graduate school, I pulled out the pieces and started carrying a block around in my purse so I could stitch it by hand as I went here and there. When all the pieces were finished, it was king size, and I quilted it by hand. (Yes, my first quilt.) I gave it to my sister Barbara as a wedding gift.
