I Love NY

When it came time to make this quilt for my nephew David, I opened up Grandpa's trunk to choose some of Grandma's 9-patch blocks, and came across a design I had sketched on an envelope several years before (the postmark was still on the envelope). It was just the thing. When I went to the store to find fabric for the borders I found this wonderful fabric with the New York City skyline printed on it, which was also perfect, because that's where I was (and am still) living. When it came time to photograph the quilt, I took it to the Staten Island ferry and got a couple of tourists in "I Love NY" t-shirts to hold it up with the New York City skyline in the background. Less than a year later, the twin towers were destroyed.
