Katelynn's Hearts

Katelynn was the first grandchild born in our family, so this was the first of the Grandma's 9-patch quilts. A simple, traditional design -- I think the lemon tree was a nice homey background for the photograph. I recall quilting it on the train between Los Angeles and San Diego, a day trip I took to see an exhibit of photographs by Mary Ellen Mark. As I write this, Katelynn is at the Department of Motor Vehicles getting her learner's permit to start driving. How time flies!
